Privacy at Zenith Weather

Data you provide

• Account information, including the email address supplied by Apple or Google and an optional profile name.
• Saved place names, coordinates, time zones, unit preferences, and the primary place you choose. Zenith does not request Android background or precise-device-location permission.
• Weather-station connection details and provider credentials. Provider credentials are protected at the server boundary and are not exposed to other Zenith users.
• Weather Circle invitations, memberships, and the specific station places each person chooses to share.
• Feedback and station-provider requests, including an optional reply email address and any details you choose to enter.

Weather and technical data

Zenith stores normalized station observations, forecast and radar context, and provider metadata needed to show weather and history. Where practical, raw provider payloads may be retained for debugging and future remapping.

Feedback submissions include the app version, build number, operating-system version, and an account reference when you are signed in. They do not automatically include station identity, provider credentials, observations, location, device identifiers, logs, or screenshots.

Production diagnostics use Sentry with identifiers, coordinates, invitation fragments, authentication material, request bodies, query strings, raw provider data, and external URLs removed. Zenith records coarse route, outcome, duration, lifecycle, crash, hang, and sampled performance signals.

How data is used and shared

Zenith uses this data to authenticate accounts, provide weather, preserve preferences, connect stations, operate private Weather Circles, respond to feedback, prioritize station integrations, secure the service, and diagnose reliability. Zenith does not sell personal data, run advertising, or use private weather-sharing or feedback data for marketing.

Necessary processors and sources include Apple and Google for sign-in, connected station providers such as Tempest, National Weather Service and NOAA sources, Mapbox for interactive maps, Sentry for redacted diagnostics, and infrastructure providers that host Zenith. A map provider receives ordinary network information and the map area requested by the app. Other users receive station weather only through an accepted Weather Circle relationship and only for the places the owner explicitly shares.

Retention, security, and choices

Zenith keeps account data while an account is active and retains feedback and operational records only as long as they are useful for support, product planning, security, reliability, legal obligations, and backup recovery. Production traffic uses encryption in transit; sensitive credentials, mobile sessions, feedback text, and optional feedback contact addresses are protected at their storage boundaries. No system can guarantee absolute security.

Users can revoke Weather Circle access, disconnect a station provider, sign out, or permanently delete their account in the app. Account deletion removes the account and account-owned profile, places, connections, sharing relationships, stored observations, and account-linked feedback from the active service. Anonymous feedback remains until it is no longer needed; contact [email protected] with the submission reference to request deletion. Limited copies may remain temporarily in protected backups or security records until their normal expiration.

Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date. Zenith is not designed for children and does not intentionally collect child-directed profiles.
